Unbody Going Open Source

A few months ago, when Unbody was just a hobby project, Hossein and I embarked on a new journey. We launched the commercial version of Unbody because we saw an opportunity and believed in the strength of our vision. It was inspired by a guiding principle shared by one of my professors: “Build systems, not artifacts.” This mantra became the foundation of everything we set out to create—not just another product, but a foundation, a toolset that empowers developers to build smarter, better products for the new AI era.

For the last couple of months, we spent countless hours refining our vision through pivots and iterations, all while staying true to one goal: simplifying the development process so developers can focus on creating. We wanted a system that would tackle the complexities of AI-driven development, bridging the gaps in disconnected stacks.

But this isn’t just about a tool. Unbody is part of a broader movement—one that addresses the evolving needs of software. Users today don’t want raw data; they demand answers. Apps need to think, speak, and solve—but the current tools weren’t built for this. We reimagined the development stack from scratch, with AI at its core. We call it “The Supabase of the AI Era.”

And now, executing this vision, the next chapter begins: in February 2025, we’re going to release open source version of Unbody (alpha). Building tools for developers without their input doesn’t work. By opening the doors to a worldwide community of developers who share a vision for building a better, AI-native future. Open source enables us to leverage the collective intelligence of developers everywhere, ensuring security, accelerating progress, and fostering inclusivity in ways no proprietary stack can.

This decision wasn’t made in isolation. I attended COSS Farm hosted by amazing Peer (cal.com) a few months ago, where I met a vibrant community of open-source founders. That experience clarified one thing: openness and collaboration are the best ways to grow Unbody. Seeing firsthand how collective expertise solves real problems reinforced our belief that open source isn’t just a choice—it’s the future. It validated our vision and reminded us that Unbody isn’t just a product; it’s a movement to redefine how software is built.

To everyone who has been part of this journey—thank you. 2025 is the year we open the doors, and we can’t wait to see what we’ll build together. If you’re ready to join us, contribute on Discord, email us at hello [@] unbody.io, or let's have a chat.

Let’s redefine software. Let’s build and ship open source.
